The first time I tried Spanish food in Singapore, it was because I was dared to try it. I have always been the type to just eat pizza, burgers and chicken wings, or something along those lines. I will try different things, but I really don’t care for most of them. However, when one of my friends who was in Singapore with me dared me to try a Spanish restaurant with him, I decided to go for it. He did tell me also that he would be ordering all of my food, knowing that there would be things like chicken wings and steak on the menu as well.
He wanted me to try something I never had before, and he also insisted that he knew that I would enjoy it just as much as I do the regular things I eat. For the appetizer, he ordered Strawberry Gazpacho and King Crab. When he told me it is a cold soup that has the crab meat in it, I honestly didn’t think I’d be able to eat more than one bite. I had never had cold soup before, and it just didn’t sound appetizing at all.
Let me tell you though, this was not only good but probably the best soup I have ever eaten in my life. It was a rich vegetable soup with a generous serving of meat in it, and I could have eaten three bowls if not for my entree that was next. For that, he had ordered a noodle paella called Fideua. It had a seafood broth, and it was even more delicious than the soup. I had potatoes and seasoned veggies with it. For dessert, we had fruit and sorbet, and it was truly the perfect ending to a great meal. Notice I said that my first trip there was on a dare. We went back a few times because I could not get enough!
